A continuing-education line is not a renewed certificate
A line in your renewal log is an activity you recorded. Posted credit and a new expiry live in the certifying body’s portal. Write all three, and do not say the certificate renewed because you attended.
The log is your list
A renewal log is a note you keep: the date, the activity, the hours you intend to claim, and where the evidence file is. It helps you remember. It does not post credit, and it does not move an expiration date.
An attendance file proves you kept a receipt. It is not the portal row. File it as evidence you can upload, and say if you have not uploaded it.
The portal is the body’s record
The certifying body’s site shows credits it has accepted and the expiration it currently stores. Those fields change when the body posts them, not when you type a line locally. If the portal still shows the old total, write “not posted.”
Rules for what counts differ by body and change. This note does not decide eligibility. It separates your log from the portal.
What to write down
File the activity, the hours you claim, the evidence filename, the portal’s accepted total, and the expiration shown there. Use three labels. A sentence that says “renewed” has to point at a new expiration on the portal.
Lab: one webinar that was only a log line
The local log says 2026-11-02, a one-hour webinar, evidence email-confirmation.pdf, not yet uploaded. The portal still shows 18 accepted credits and the same expiration as last month. A draft says the certificate renewed because the webinar happened.
The note quotes the log line and the portal totals separately. The webinar is recorded locally. Credit is not posted. The expiration did not move. “Renewed” is removed.
log: 2026-11-02 webinar, 1 hour, email-confirmation.pdf, not uploaded portal accepted: 18 portal expiration: unchanged write: log line plus portal totals not: the certificate renewed

Check yourself
1. You logged a webinar and have not uploaded the receipt. What has happened?
2. The portal total is unchanged. What do you write?
3. Which fact supports the word “renewed”?
